Billund Airport is centrally located in Jutland, and it is quick and easy to reach many of the area’s major cities, where many of the largest Danish companies have their headquarters. Within an hour's drive you can reach places such as Aarhus, Herning, Horsens, Kolding, Vejle and Esbjerg. Billund Airport is Denmark's second largest airport, with a British Airways ticket office, car hire and a variety of shops and places to eat. If you need a hotel room, the Zleep hotel is located next to the airport, with plenty of additional  accommodation in Billund itself. Many tourists come to Billund to experience Legoland, an exciting and colourful theme park where both children and adults can enjoy rides, shops and other Lego-themed attractions. For the ultimate Legoland experience, spend the night in one of the many spectacular themed rooms of the Legoland Hotel. Northern Europe's largest waterpark, Lalandia, is also located in Billund. As well as water slides and splash pools, the park features a playland, shops, child-friendly restaurants and a gym.
Book a getaway in one of the beautiful cottages  with plenty of room for the whole family. Get closer to nature at Givskud Zoo, a zoo and safari park where you can observe animals from across the globe, including lions, the park’s speciality. At the 30-45 minutes away from the sea, you can reach some of the Denmark’s best beaches from Billund, including the dramatic scenery of the North Sea coast and the fjord beaches of Vejle and Kolding. Billund’s surrounding cities such as Vejle and Kolding are great for a spot of retail therapy. Kolding’s vibrant shopping street and large shopping centre (Kolding Storcenter) means you can pick up just about anything on your visit, from clothes to souvenirs. If you interested in history, the old royal town of Jelling is certainly worth a visit. The city’s main historical attractions are its two burial mounds and the famous runic stones, which symbolise the birth of the Danish nation. In 1994 the Jelling Monuments were included on UNESCO's World Heritage List and you can find out more at the Kongernes Jelling museum, which is free for both children and adults.
The Jelling music festival, the third largest in Denmark, draws crowds from all over the world and is a must-visit for music fans. It takes place every year in late May and features both Danish and international musicians, as well as a variety of music genres. Legoland Deutschland is a lot like any US amusement park, with attractions such as the water ride below. There are some exceptions. One, there are a lot of Lego pieces, as in the woman below. Two, the food is different, of course. There are some common things like pizza and cake, but there are also , , and . Three, a few of the attractions might not do well in the United States. I'll get to that later. There are a lot of animals made of Lego pieces around the park. In the center of the park, there are scenes from various places in Europe. Somehow seeing Venezia (which I have visited) in Lego pieces was amusing while
seeing Berlin (which I have not visited) was not. I wish I had photographs that matched viewpoints more closely. details match well, although I think they have not captured as well as some other places. I do not have a photograph to match the scene at the left, but it did capture for me the feeling of a typical Venezia view. Above is Neuschwanstein Castle, and to the right is the bridge near the castle. My photograph of the real Rmerberg is taken from the opposite direction of the two above photographs of the Lego Rmerberg, but you can match up the fountain in the left image and the red tower in the right image.I will be there in 12 days! In the Lego Venezia, the boats move, and, in the Berlin street scene above, the Straenbahn is moving on tracks. In the middle scene, the truck is moving and turning, and it is not on tracks. There are no visible restraints, so something else is guiding it, and pretty well—the movement is smooth.
In the airport, some of the planes taxi and turn, also without restraints, and some have working propellors. So, I looked around park and went on some of the rides, including the water ride and a roller coaster. To the right are two attractions that I did not try and that might not catch onThe first is a self-propelled roller coaster. The cars have to beThe climbs and drops are pretty mild, and it takes work. a driving area where kids stay in their lanes, stop at intersections, and waitIf they are going to insist on realism, there should be Near the self-propelled roller coaster is a self-powered drop tower—two people sit on a bench attached to the side of a rotating tower. They pull on a rope to raise the bench. When they reach the top, they let go to enjoy theI think the the rope winds onto a spring-loaded reel, so you do not have to lift your own weight, and the drop is less than free-fall. Another attraction is Gold Search.
