Aberdeen City Libraries are calling for unused or unwanted bits of Lego to be donated to any public library in the city. The group is hoping to get enough bricks and kits from across the North-east to launch a free Lego club for children later this year. Lego is one of the most popular toys in the world and is enjoyed by children as well as adults. An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “Over the past year the City Libraries Service has been regularly asked about running Lego clubs in libraries in Aberdeen. “Inspired by the success of Lego Literacy clubs in libraries all over the world, City Libraries decided to establish a free club in the Central Library and launched an appeal for unwanted Lego. “Through play with Lego children learn the basics of language, word creation, problem solving, developing memory and creativity.

We have been totally overwhelmed by the response we have received via social media with lots of people of all ages really excited about the prospect.
