Unleash your inner Marty McFly with Lego's Back to the Future set Back to the Future fans have waited with bated breath since Lego announced that it would soon rock their worlds with a fan-designed Cuusoo set, and now, we finally have a release date. On August 1st, Lego's Back to the Future Time Machine will go on sale for $34.99 from select retailers, but an extremely limited quantity can be found at San Diego Comic Con, going on right now. The set includes our favorite time travelers (complete with Marty McFly's cheeky grin and Doc Brown's gravity-defying mane) and a DeLorean that can be customized to resemble the three different models from the trilogy. We have to say . . . Legos are cool and all, but we're still holding out for a fully functional hoverboard.Skip to main content area Are Doctor Who LEGO sets on the way? Two of the pillars of geekdom, both with foundations going back decades, are Doctor Who and LEGO. Yet they've never met, with the BBC giving the rights to make Doctor Who LEGO-like items to Character Options, who has, over the years, put together a very healthy smattering of choices.

They have had plenty of our cash, certainly. It's curious why LEGO and Doctor Who never joined forces, however, although we've been told by a few sources in the past that the show was never quite big enough to get LEGO to commit to it.

LEGO has, for some time, run a scheme whereby users can submit potential projects for future LEGO sets. LEGO CUUSOO is the name of said scheme, and users get to vote on potential projects.

Now though there's been an update to the License Conflicts And Resolutions section of LEGO CUUSOO's help page, and this is the exact text: If your project was previously turned down, archived, or deleted due to a licensing conflict that is now resolved, you may re-submit it as a new project. Supporters from past projects cannot be applied to a future project.

Resolved Past Licensing Conflicts We now welcome projects based on the following licenses that used to have conflicts: • Doctor Who - February 2014 Now we're not ones for speculation, but that suggests very much to us that the barriers preventing Doctor Who and LEGO from joining forces have been taken down. This hasn't been confirmed, and we will update this story with any official word from LEGO, the BBC or Character Options when we get it. But the LEGO post, we'd suggest, is fairly specific. This hints broadly that Doctor Who LEGO may be on the way. More as we hear it.It’s looking like a Back to the Future trilogy LEGO play set is going to become a reality in the near future. The pictures you see here are of a fan made LEGO set that was submitted to the site Lego Cuusoo, where people vote on fan creations in hope LEGO will actually develop an official play set out of them. This Back to the Future set has received over 10,000 votes, which means that LEGO will take it to the evaluation stage that will most likely lead to an official limited edition run.

I don’t see why they’d turn this set down, it’s pretty spectacular. Would you buy this BTTF LEGO set? 2015 is a peculiar year for me: I was hit with 2 blasts from the past: the Evangelion series and the Back to the Future film franchise. In the 1985 film Back to the Future II, Marty (Michael J. Fox) travels forward in time to October 21, 2015, making this past October 21, 2015 a very special year for fans of the film. A special Thank You goes out to Warner Bros. Games for sending me the Back to the Future Level pack, so I can celebrate the 30th anniversary of this legendary film through gaming. The Back To The Future Level Pack unlocks the “Hill Valley Time Travel Adventure Level” in the Lego Dimensions game. It is convenient that the level pack will work straight out of the box without interfering with your previous game progress. A Mini-figure such as Batman can be place on the Lego Toy Pad to appear early in the adventure or when prompt later in the adventure. As a huge fan of the iconic DeLorean time machine, I think Lego’s design of the vehicle is quite loyal to the film’s vehicle.

The build for the DeLorean and Hoverboard are both very detailed and well-crafted, just like the Batmobile in the Starter Pack. The “ Hill Valley Time Travel Adventure “ level is quite extensive and challenging, as I didn’t mange to complete the level before writing this blog. However I did spend 2 hours on the level, long enough to put Batman and Gandalf in play. For owners of the Lego Dimensions game who are fans of the Back to the Future franchise, this level will be quite nostalgic: from the setting to the music, it is an excellent tribute to the film.
