In his debut as the Dark Knight (and for two sequels), Christian Bale rode around in an awesome new Batmobile nicknamed the Tumbler. The design of the car was fantastic, but only now is there a truly epic Lego version of the Tumbler. The new Ultimate Collector’s Series Batman Tumbler is a magnificent 1,869-piece set that you’ll be able to buy in a  few weeks, but it’s going to cost you. This is the second Batmobile to be immortalized in Lego’s Ultimate Series bricks, the previous one being the Batman Returns version (set 7784), but it was only 1000 pieces. The Tumbler set has nearly double the pieces for an amazing amount of detail. The top wings are adjustable, the tires are real rubber with dual axles, and there are even little view screens all over the interior to complete the illusion. When assembled, the Tumbler will be five inches tall and 15 inches long.

It’s even cooler than some of the great fan-made versions. The set is going to go on sale September 1st for a whopping $199. That might sounds like a lot, and in the grand scheme it is for a pile of blocks, but these big Lego sets usually cost a few hundred dollars. Well, it also comes with a limited edition Batman and Joker (Heath Ledger version) minfigs, if that makes you feel better about the price. Lego has become a pretty big deal in recent years as the company has increasingly relied on licensing characters from content owners to make sets for Star Wars, Batman, and other franchises. Ultimate Series set like this one often skyrocket in value after they are discontinued. That 7784 Batmobile from a 2006 sells for $400-600 online right now.
