But if there's any justice, the film's now almost-obligatory Lego tie-in sets will prove to be big hits.

Because these are the best sets we've seen in a long, long time. (And yes, that includes the Back To The Future car.) The sets we got to play with - the Silver Mine Shootout (£69.99) and Constitution Train Chase (£79.99) - are evocative and beautifully constructed, as ever for modern Lego kits. But what they get right that other themes haven't of late, is that they're able to encompass the movie while also embracing the timeless, Western fantasy in which they're set. Above: Click around our Lytro image to refocus. The problem with Lego movie toys is that they're often based on such specific scenes they're almost useless out of context. Take the Superman sets. Perfectly well made and realised they might be. But when kids play Superman, they have the Man of Steel rescuing buses, fighting tons of villains and lifting trains into the sky. They don't have him - with the best will in the world - driving in a sports car. So what do kids do when they play the Lone Ranger - or the now non-PC 'Cowboys and Indians'?

They make up train robberies, fort battles, stagecoach escapes and town-centre showdowns. And that's exactly what they get here. Perhaps that's down to Disney, who in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' style may well have made a movie comprising every standard trope of the Western genre (and maybe that's why it didn't work?). It comes with a jail, a coal cart, a Lego Gatling gun and a collapsible water tower - plus a Lone Ranger riding Silver, able to rear up on its hind legs. The track is long, the train is huge, the Minifigs are great - and not too movie-dull - and the result is a stone-cold classic train set. The Silver Mine Shootout is also wonderful. It's full of details - a slide, a trap door, a runaway mine (through which it's possible with a bit of adjusting to fit the Constitution Train, incidentally) and a baddies hideaway with cooker, bottles and mining equipment. lego shop moonee pondsIt's like the best of the old Lego castles, with passages connecting all the different areas, fun escape routes and set-piece 'explosions' (complete with TNT) and a good sense of scale and value.buy characters lego jurassic world We really can't recommend these sets enough.

They'll be great for any kid - or adult fan - regardless of whether they like the Lone Ranger. And if they do happen to love the film too, they'll probably explode with happiness. Lone Ranger Movie Lego Toys Uk News Lego Reviews LegoThe day before his birthday Snuggles asked how I was going to decorate...  I told him that since I wasn't feeling well there might not be very many decorations this year, but that we have cake, ice cream, pizza and presents after golf camp!  I did ask if he had anything specific in mind and he said, "You could just cover up all those with the LONE RANGER!"  That I could do, and you should have seen his smile when he discovered them in the morning. On the counter next to , he also found some Lone Ranger themed accessories when he woke up in the morning!  I found the , ,  and  online.   As for the White Cowboy Hat, I searched the night before his birthday, while out purchasing a few supplies for the cake, without any luck.  In the end I went with a light pink foam hat from Michaels and a can of white spray paint.  

The Classic Lone Ranger & Tonto Board Game! (Note: It doesn't seem to be available for a reasonable price from Amazon any longer but Ebay might be an option.) I had filled a basket with candy bars that I thought tied in nicely to our theme to use as prizes including , , , , and bars! ~ The Lone Ranger (Little Golden Book) I had also picked up some to bag up as party favors for each of the children. The leftover wrapping paper from our Josefina Birthday earlier this year was perfect to wrap up the new "Lone Ranger" Legos including:  Lone Ranger Calvary Builder Set, Stagecoach Escape, Comanche Camp, and Colby City Showdown.   I also placed copies of B is for Buckaroo and The Lone Ranger (Little Golden Book) Our older children had been saving up their Summer Bingo tickets to use to purchase gifts for their little brother including the New Adventures of the Lone Ranger DVDLego MinifigureTonto's CampfirelovedArchangel from Sean and I!
